Working with Consortium Partners

Upstream has always worked with local, regional and national partners in a practical and effective manner, creating new opportunities through co-operation wherever possible. From the start, Upstream’s ‘Strategic Partners’, including the County Council, NHS, District Council, Voluntary and Community Sector, Arts Council, Business, University and others helped to guide direction of the project. Most important partners of all, Upstream’s participants have constantly played a fundamental part in determining the shape and activities of the service that Upstream provides to meet their expressed needs and wishes.

Examples of Upstream’s consortium working include:

• South-West Well-Being consortium of 15 partners engaged in the Big Lottery Well-Being programme.
• Time for Life consortium contracted by Devon County Council to deliver community mentoring across Devon.
• Well UK consortium created to win and manage contracts for local partnerships of front-line delivery organisations.
• 3SC (3rd Sector Consortium) to win and manage large government contracts on behalf of the 3rd Sector.
• Healthy Living Alliance, to create a national focus for Healthy Living Centres and similar community-based organisations.
• HealthTec Plymouth consortium to provide a venue-based health education and training centre for students and professional development.
• 5x30 consortium across Devon, funded by Sport England, to encourage exercise in the community, with local District and County Health and Care authorities.
