National Healthy Living Alliance

The Healthy Living Alliance

Upstream took a leading role in forming the Healthy Living Alliance, an independent focus for Healthy Living Centres that had developed under the Big Lottery (originally the New Opportunities Fund) HLC programme. The Alliance was launched in December 2005 by the Minister for Health, Caroline Flint, and has received support from the Department of Health and the Big Lottery Fund. The Aims of the Alliance include raising the profile of Healthy Living Centres with central, regional and local government; raising the standard, effectiveness and impact of HLCs through regional networks; and linking with other national organisations with an interest in holistic and preventative well-being. The Alliance is a Company limited by guarantee and a Charity. It has widened its membership to include all healthy living initiatives throughout England. The Director of Upstream currently chairs the Alliance. The Chief Executive of the Alliance is Jo Guest: joanna.guest1@ntlworld.com
