NICE Award (National Institute for Clinical Excellence)
Upstream achieved national recognition in 2008 when it won the NICE Award for Shared Learning in Public Health, with a presentation on ‘Behaviour Change and Enthusiasm for Life’. Upstream was the only voluntary sector organisation short-listed for the Award, and competed with local health authorities and hospital trusts. The final competition was held in Manchester and Upstream’s presentation was highlighted by a giant slice of cake made especially by Upstream participants from a mixture of craft techniques including felt, embroidery, knitting and much more.
